Sex Box

Now, this is pretty interesting.  And no, it’s not an XBOX that you can have sex with…  There’s a new show coming out on a popular UK television station called Sex Box, which aims to “reclaim sex from pornography” and it has me thinking beyond entertainment value…  Is that a good idea?  Or, rather, is it even necessary?

A huge aspect of this for me is what exactly constitutes porn…  Do they mean every single existing pornographic video, including what I do?  Or are they talking about mainstream porn?  It seems that most people are REALLY talking about mainstream porn, and that shouldn’t be the only representation of sex, to be sure…  But how intellectualized/fancy does filmed sex have to be before it’s reclaimed?  Can the performers be paid?  Can the performers make a living on the videos they’ve made?  I’m sure the couples in this TV show at least got paid to take part.

As far as I understand, the couples have sex in a fairly small box (the sex box!) and then talk about their sex life, both immediate and (I assume) more long-range with a bunch of experts.  I can’t tell if they actually show any footage from the box or if it’s just a gimmick/way to get the couples thinking very actively about sex, but the discussion of sex seems to be the forefront of the show.  And that’s good!  We should all be talking more about sex.  But can’t porn be a part of that?

It’s the same as it ever was, at least lately…  Various pop culture companies try to distance themselves from the concept of porn, explaining why their version of filming sex is different and better, but it seems like these people have very narrow concepts of the adult industry and assume that sex can’t be both real and on film unless it’s shot their particular way.  Of course, it’s hard to identify where that line is…  For instance, I’d consider The Art of Blowjob and Slow Motion Blowjob to be porn (however beautiful!) while I would consider the new site to be more focused on the erotic and the personal, with sex as a part of that.

So, what does this mean?  Can varying levels of porn and “non-porn” sex videos live in harmony?  I think the solution is more and variety, not less and exclusivity.  What do you think?

Come Swim With Me

We just got back from Miami, and it’s fair to say that we had a lot of fun.  Well, you saw what Clara and I got up to on Friday over on The Art of Blowjob and Slow Motion Blowjob, of course…  There was a lot of that.  But there was also shopping, dinners, drinks, walking around to explore, spending time out on the beach and even swimming!

Mike picked up a waterproof Nikon Coolpix to take beautiful photos and videos of us swimming in the condo pool…  Please note my amazing Batman bathing suit.  Clara got a Superman one too…  We’re super heroes in our own right, I think!  It’s nice to just relax and frolic around, enjoying the lovely sun before coming back to the slightly chillier climates of Montreal.

I hope you like this little video.  It’s sweet and playful, and it even shows off some more of Mike than you’d typically see.  This trip was so much fun and really fulfilling…  You’ll see what I mean soon enough.  ;)  It was just the little pick-me-up we needed to get through the rest of the month before Montreal turns into its beautiful springtime/summertime self.

Evolution of Beautiful Porn

Sexy turquoise lingerie blowjob

Miami is beautiful and it’s helping us to yet again evolve what we do…  Speaking of which, there was a Q+A question about that very thing:

Although you’ve touched on it before, I think it would be interesting for you to speak about how you’ve changed, artistically, philosophically and physically since you first dipped into porn.

From my perspective, you’ve evolved a lot between your Dolorem days and The Art of Blowjob/Slow Motion Blowjob. (I only became aware of your previous efforts in retrospect, and was intrigued to see how much your makeup and your facial expressions have changed over the years; for what it’s worth, you’ve always been beautiful, but you can’t beat the current you!)

That’s a really sweet sentiment!  I think that artistically we’ve evolved probably most of all, since you can really see different periods in the sites.  We started with a lot of photography, which was largely stark and striking.  Then we moved into videography and got our footing.  You can see the skill and the techniques develop over time.  I think we’ve played around with the different kinds of blowjobs we’ve featured and the different ways we’ve featured them.  There were periods where they were shorter, then longer…  It was an artistic choice as much as anything else.  We’ve worked with a little story telling from time to time, with establishing shots and b-roll and we’ve also tried to just show the simplicity of a blowjob from start to finish.  You can see the different cameras/numbers of cameras we’ve used and times where we’ve played with POV, handheld cameras, different DIY techniques…  I think we’re at a really great place right now visually, but I also know that we’ll continue to evolve a lot.

The philosophy has really always stayed the same.  We want to make beautiful porn that shows the kind of sexuality we genuinely feel.  We chose a niche, but it still feels very real to us and we stick to what makes us comfortable to share.  We want to show that sex and porn can be lovely, sensual, respectful and still really hot and specifically that blowjobs can be so much more than something rough or boring.  I don’t think that has changed at all since we started.  It’s a simple message and it resonates for exactly that reason.  It’s our belief and it’s the reason we started making porn at all.

As for my appearance, I always feel good.  I’ve gone through different hairstyles, my body has naturally fluctuated and I’ve played around with styles like pinup, glamorous, fresh-faced, girl next door…  They’re all a part of me, though.  Just like our artistic evolution, the looks are just different ways to play around with what already exists within us.

This is a good topic for today, because tomorrow will mark a pretty big evolution for the sites…  I can’t wait to share it with you!

Update Snag

Seductively slow blowjob

We hit a little snag with today’s update on The Art of Blowjob.  Because we’ve been moved from our home for the past little while due to our neighbours getting their floors varnished.  It turns out toxic fumes are bad for you!  So, having to relocate was an issue that made it difficult to get this week’s update out on time.  It’ll be up this weekend, and I know you’re going to love it, so don’t fret!

In the meantime, you can check out the latest update on Slow Motion Blowjob, which takes a different look at the awesome (and burny!) cumshot from our Miami vacation.  Nice and slow, just the way I like it…  Although, if our reality had been shot in slow motion, I might have had time to dodge and catch it in my mouth instead of in my eye.  ;)

So, thank you for your patience while we work to get it all set up, and I hope that you’ll agree that the update is worth the wait.  Once in a while, doing the tech and shooting all yourself gets the better of us…  But at least you know that we’re real people really doing what we do!  It’s like a cookie baked with love!

Porn for Women

XKCD Comic on porn for women

The above comic is from XKCD, and I couldn’t agree more.

Recently there has been a whole lot of talk about porn for women.  But what does that actually mean?  People imagine things about the way the porn is shot, the idea of having a storyline, softer imagery, more romance…  There’s nothing wrong with that kind of porn, except that it’s not something for ALL women, and there are a lot of men who like that kind of porn.  So, that’s not really porn for WOMEN, is it?

A lot of people include the stipulation that porn for women has to show lots of woman-centric pleasure.  Does that mean that The Art of Blowjob or Slow Motion Blowjob could never be porn for women because it focuses (on the surface, anyways) on man-oriented pleasure?  I certainly don’t think so.

Women like all kinds of different things.  Some like the soft, romantic kind of porn that mainstream porn companies expect them to, but a lot also like much harder stuff or specific niches that may not seem woman-friendly at all.  To assume that all women like one thing is just as damaging as assuming that all men like one thing, which is what has created the need for “porn for women” (if there is such a need) in the first place!  If we hadn’t created a porn industry that thinks that all men only want hardcore porn without any nuance, emotion or artistry, we wouldn’t have to ascribe those qualities to women by default.

So, what’s the alternative?  I think there’s lots of value in “romance porn” which is a legitimate genre that can appeal to both men and women.  Same with glam, beautiful porn, story-driven porn, softcore porn…  All of those things are valid without attaching them solely to women.  It makes it seem like porn with training wheels for us delicate women.  Treating your growing audience that way is not the best way to endear them to porn, especially if many of them gravitate towards other kinds of porn.

Instead, I think that porn performers, directors, companies and blogs should reach out to women and making it clear that women are part of the audience and the conversation.  Using respectful language about women (or at least explaining that it’s fantasy when they don’t) and not making assumptions that everyone watching porn is a guy will be a great step towards making women feel included in porn viewership.  I’m sure there are lots of other things to do, but I have this conversation a lot with a lot of people and it seems like making women feel included from the ground up is important to get to actually understanding what, if anything, unifies women in the way they approach porn.

What do you think?  Do we need “porn for women” or is that just all porn?

Slowly Sweet Sucking

Erotic and sweet blowjob by Camille Crimson

I talk a lot about Slow Motion Blowjob and I’m always finding new things that make the whole slow motion thing unique.  It’s slow, yes, but really that’s not all it is.  One of my recent thoughts is that it lends itself incredibly well to being able to identify the sweetness in what Mike and I do.

Today’s update is called Slowly Sweet Sucking and it really is emblematic of the kind of tenderness we have when we’re together.  My facial expressions are so clear and each moment sticks out so much more, I suppose.  Everything is very deliberate, yet smooth.  That’s what giving a really loving blowjob is to me.

So, do you know what I mean by this?  It’s intangible in a way, but I feel like it’s pretty undeniable when I watch our videos.  Take a look at the trailer or, of course, the full video to see if you can taste the sweetness too.
