I’ve had a day and a bit to process the Reddit AMA, conveniently provided by yesterday’s xoJane IHTM, so I’m fresh and able to comment on my experience with a little time to have processed it all.  So, here’s a little breakdown of what happened and how I felt, and I’d love to hear your reactions to the details of the AMA from the other side as well.

Essentially, it was quite an amazing opportunity.  I had no clue how huge the reaction would be.  I was kind of concerned that it would just be some people I know and a few token strangers, but it ended up drawing in a ton of people.  It felt really great to know that people were interested in what I was doing, and seemingly not just because of the blowjob title, but also because of the idea that porn can be beautiful.

It was also a lot.  It was daunting to keep receiving questions, because as you know, I hate not answering everyone.  By about half an hour in, I realized that there was no real way to do that unless I wanted to be typing non-stop well into the night.  My strategy was to try to answer the upvoted questions and work my way as far down as I could, but I’m sure I missed some great questions in the process.  I might take a stab at trying to sift through some of the questions I missed to answer some of the most interesting ones, because so many people took the time to come out and support me…

I found that a huge number of the questions were advice/technique-based, which I thought was really interesting.  I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I am always really happy to give my opinions on how to have fulfilling sex lives.  The thing is, my advice is always central to communication, so I was a little worried that I sounded like a broken record, but the truth is that it’s really important to talk (in a way that is balanced and respectful to each other) and that’s the biggest mistake people tend to make in relationships in general.  It seemed like people appreciated the honesty, and it was always backed up with other more specific tips.

Of course, there were one or two trolls, but amazingly there were so few comparatively speaking.  People were extremely polite, and they downvoted anyone who was the least bit rude immediately.  I was amazed at how incredibly nice, accommodating and sex-positive everyone was.  Pretty much everyone was actively excited about the potential porn has to be a really good thing.

It was a marathon!  My fingers didn’t stop moving and I ended up staying for over four hours.  I wished I could have gone on and on, but I was hungry and I hadn’t moved since I sat down before 2pm.  The response was overwhelming in the best way possible, and I would love to do a sequel at some point, if that’s ever a possibility.
