Working Out

9 Feb

I have always felt kind of guilty when people asked me for my fitness routine, or what my “secret” was for looking the way I do…  I am just lucky, honestly.  I have good genes.  It’s not like I eat decadent food all the time, but I have a good metabolism, so I’ve never had a problem with moderate consumption of delicious things.  I have always been a walker, so I do get exercise that way, but I’ve never been adherent to any sort of workout plan asides from just living my life.

In the past little while, Mike and I have started going to a fairly standard gym a few times a week, making room in our lives for more concerted exercise and the benefits have been great.  We just do basic cardio on the machines (treadmill, eliptical, bike and rowing machine) and a little stretching and some weights, so we’re not going crazy, but we spend an hour or so.  It’s not really for vanity, though we’ve both seen some more definition and tightening.  The best result has been that we feel more energetic and vital, and that has really crept into the bedroom.  We’re just more in our bodies and it makes us really passionate…  Even more so than we already were.  It’s pretty amazing.

So, why did we chose to do this?  The biggest reason actually has to do with motorcycling.  The stronger you are, especially in your arms, thighs and core, the more you’re going to be able to handle long rides.  Not that we’re going to be crossing the country necessarily, but we got these motorcycles to go on adventures, so we want to be able to handle them.

Now we’re feeling healthier and happier, so I just thought I’d share that here!  How about you?  Do you do any kind of workout?

Good for you and Mike, Camille :)

I use to workout like a crazy person – doing crossfit, yoga, boxing or brazilian jiu-jitsu up too six days a week sometimes *phew*.

I haven’t followed that routine in years though. I still do a lot of push-ups, squats and sit-ups every morning – Monday through Friday – the reps vary from one hundred, all the way up to five hundred on some occasions, mostly I keep them at three hundred, max.

Wow! That sounds like a lot, but even when you’re doing now sounds like a lot!

We actually just did the exact same thing! Already loving it, even though we’ve never been “gym people”. Feeling pretty wonderful afterwards and seeing some nice changes in certain areas.

That’s the same thing. We’re not really workout types, but it feels good to do it. Weird synchronicity!

I usually workout 5 to 6 days a week doing weight training and cardio. I’ve only really been hitting it hard for 5 months, but I’ve noticed changes so its motivating. Plus I want my ass to look like yours! Its also fun to go to the gym because there’s a really hot guy there to look at, but he doesn’t come in on Fridays. But still have your videos to look forward to.

I try to make the gym 3-4 times a week. Weights, a few machines, stretching.

Good for the bones and makes dieting easier.

It’s true! I never think much about my bones, but bone density is an important reason to get a few workouts in! Good for you, Pete!
