Another Interview with Wilson Garret

I’m delighted that the wonderful Wilson Garret had me back on his blog to do a second part of my interview with him.  The original interview was back in June, so a lot of things have happened between now and then and it was nice to catch up and share a bit more about my experiences working in porn.  I wanted to share a few of my favourite exchanges, so here they are:

Will: Do you believe that men and women view porn differently? If so, do those differences translate in how men and women porn directors operate?

Camille: I don’t know for sure.  A lot of people talk about how women are more emotional and men are more visual, but I can’t say I believe for sure that it’s true.  I know lots of women who love porn purely on a visual scale and appreciate our videos because they’re very beautiful.  On the other hand, I have received a ton of praise from guys who adore that they can really feel the love in our videos.  So, I think we’re all a little more complex than what has been reduced about the way we enjoy porn.

Will: What place does erotica or art has in the adult entertainment industry?

Camille: I think it should be totally intertwined.  The best adult content is that which is not clearly defined as art, erotica or porn.  It has elements of everything working together.

Will: How has the internet and social media changed how sex and pornography is viewed and accepted? What have you noticed by the comments you’ve received?

Camille: I think as everything becomes more accessible, it becomes more acceptable.  Following a porn performer is less taboo.  It’s less about being a grubby man in a trench coat, going into a porn shop and coming out with a brown paper bag of smut…  It’s increasingly being seen as a normal part of human sexuality.
