Definitely a very interesting question! Another blog commenter actually pointed out that there are some links between the feet and genitals in the brain, which definitely explains something! I had always wondered why foot fetishism is such a big deal when hand fetishism really isn’t, but the scientific element behind it definitely puts into a much more logical context.
For me, I think it’s sometimes a little hard to point down exactly what it is about foot fetishism it is that people like, but that’s kind of the fun of it. Some people love little feet, some people love big feet. Some people like skinny feet, whereas some like them fat and broad! Some people like short little toes or very long “finger toes” on feet. Some people love soft and perfectly smooth feet, others want to see some wear and tear and rough skin. There are a lot of debates about whether toenails should be long or short, painted or natural. Some people even like to see hairy toes! There is foot porn for pretty much any tastes.
For some people, it comes from a place of worship. We have long associated groveling at feet as a sign of respect, so why can’t extend to worshipping the feet themselves? I don’t have a foot fetish, but I definitely find a women’s feet sexy when taken in context of the whole woman. That’s a very cool picture. I don’t get the foot fetish either, but Camille did make some good points. I was just suggesting that some women make dreadful fashion choices and that shoes are not always the issue.
