Love for Alexa DiCarlo
11 Aug
I love Alexa DiCarlo. There… I said it! This incredible woman can do no wrong in my book. I only met her a couple of months ago (and by met, I mean met on Twitter) but I am completely and utterly enamoured with this bright, witty and deeply sexy woman. If you haven’t been lucky enough to visit The Real Princess Diaries, head on over right now. She has tons (and I mean TONS) of amazing blog posts about everything including some very arousing sex stories, how-to guides on pretty much any sex act imaginable, discussions on facets of sexuality, ideas for progressive sex education and personal accounts of life as an escort. Yes, you read that right. Alexa is an escort, or more accurately, a modern courtesan.
Personally I’m in no way surprised that such a delightful, intelligent and well-educated person is an escort, but just in case any of you are… Sex workers are very smart people! Alexa blows most professional bloggers out of the water with her long, thought-provoking posts, backed up by her experience studying/researching (among other things) human sexuality in University. She did her undergrad in psychology and her masters in human sexuality and is now pursuing her doctorate to become the most amazing sex educator on the planet.
But seriously, this woman isn’t only smart as a whip because of her extensive education, she’s also a marketing genius. All of her sites are absolutely gorgeous and linked with the same overall aesthetic, she is unbelievably active in social media and she has developed and maintained a persona that is simultaneously elegant, seductive, dirty, sweet, funny and approachable. This is mostly owing to the fact that she is all of these things, but being able to effectively convey all of your positive attributes online is quite a challenge.
On top of maintaining a great blog and marketing herself like none other, she also gives back to the sex worker community through a website called My First Professional Sex. Her main reason for starting this site (which features interviews with escorts, dominatrixes, fetish models, exotic dancers, phone sex operators and pornographers) is to give a voice to sex workers and let them tell their own stories. Many people think that anyone who does something sexual for money has problems, has a horrible background, is forced to do it and has low self-esteem because of it. Not true at all. In sharing these various interviews, Alexa shows the reality of sex work and empowers all sex workers to be proud of what they’re doing.
The fact that she does everything she does online, is pursuing a doctorate AND sees clients regularly… It’s beyond impressive. I run myself ragged all day trying to so inventive shoots, maintain the websites and run my business and I feel like I sometimes only scratch the surface of blogging and social media. Very few people can truly appreciate everything Alexa does, but as someone doing a similar thing, let me just tell you that she is truly awe-inspiring.
Her blog takes on everything to do with sex work, but it’s far from being a blog that only chronicles her personal experiences or stories related to sex work. (That said, she did live tweet a professional sex session!) It’s really just about sex… Everything to do with sex, but written from someone with a really unique world-view and lots of amazing experiences. How she manages to keep such a detailed, thorough and well-written blog is beyond me, especially considering that she tweets pretty much around the clock. With nearly 6000 followers, it’s no surprise that she has to be on nearly constantly to keep up. She recently hit an amazing milestone… 2 million visitors to her blog. In fact, she wrote a lovely post about her achievement, which happens to include a link to an interview she just did with me as well as two video clips and some very, very kind words. As you can probably tell from this blog post, the feelings of admiration are mutual.

Does she really exist? I mean, I have read on the internet that she was a man… :S

I wrote a follow-up post a few weeks ago called “Was I Duped” about the fact that she is allegedly a middle-aged man.

Sorry, I hadn´t seen it. I have already read it and I have to say that I was duped too two years ago and I hope it doesn´t have repercussions in the future.

Yeah, it’s pretty unfortunate, ipanemagirl.
