The ‘mainstream’ part of porn have found themselves a cookie-cutter way of churning out their product, that as long as it makes money why change?

I agree with you and Ed, and to take a point of Ed’s:

“It seems like the industry believes than the general viewer isn’t satisfied with the basic concept of watching sex – there has to be something bigger, more violent, more extreme to hold the audience.”

No matter what the business or industry there is an old maxim…”Never underestimate the (fill in blank) of your audience or customer.” Movies have been going over the top with special effects, but there is a large audience for the simple stories that are done well.

I have always the artful side of porn, to me it is much more erotic than the ‘mainstream’ junk. Camille, even though most people don’t know how much work you two put into your product, I think your fans are drawn to what we realize is a well done, very erotic, loving group of web sites.

I completely agree with you Ed! Porn movies and sites just seem to be going through the motions and being creative simply by being more shocking. That’s certainly not universally true, but it’s the case with a lot of mainstream stuff. It’s hard to keep being fresh and original while doing natural, simple sex (or blowjobs, in my case) but that’s part of being in a creative industry. I think you hit the problem right on the nose. (Is that the right expression? I never know.)

Sorry i haven’t written earlier. Almost too far behind to catch up. The site(s) are really taking off now.
So I’ve been thinking about your quest to change the face of the porn industry. And I think a big part of the ‘problem’ is like any big business, the ‘love of the game’ seems to be getting lost behind the business aspect of it. Look at any major sports team and you’ll see a slow shift in paradigm that caters to making a profit more than giving a pure ‘performance’. We all long for the ‘old days’ when (insert your favorite sport) was pure…

And this seems to be happening with mainstream movies and visual mediums as well. The art of storytelling seems to be getting lost behind the special effects, and new methods of making movies…
So what’s all this have to do with porn..?
Maybe the industry is suffering from the same general decline of the ‘pure’. It seems like the industry believes than the general viewer isn’t satisfied with the basic concept of watching sex – there has to be something bigger, more violent, more extreme to hold the audience.

Really, the idea of porn is (should be) simple. Why does anybody watch it – because it is exciting to see the raw act of sex. it gets us aroused and it ultimately leads to pleasure, whether you were imagining / fantasizing that you were the one having sex with one of the ‘actors’ or watched it to make things a little hotter with your partner (a safe orgy for the less adventurous?)

The rough stuff, the degradation of women, the pain is a symptom of the lost art of the pure, I think, and is the ‘special effects’ in mainstream movies, or the business aspect of sports.

I don’t know that any of us in the audience asked for it, it just seems to be a ‘natural’ path all things lead to.

Doesn’t mean we should accept it, or that we will eventually agree that it is ok. Which is why I commend you for what you are doing and trying to do.

I probably missed the mark on what I was trying to say, but the real point to all of this is please keep doing what you are doing. The last 3 movies you posted on your member site were astounding!

That’s a really interesting way to think about it. I’m sure there are lots of people (not just men) who like rough blow jobs for other reasons. I can see how it’s very visceral and it works through all sorts of power dynamics. I understand the psychology of why some women love being treated that way and why the men who do it aren’t coming from a bad place… But it’s just so important to have variety, and the mainstream has really moved away from anything short of fairly rough blow jobs.

I think the problem with most porn is that since it’s aimed primarily at sexually frustrated (presumably single) men, that frustration must translate into wanting to see the object of their frustration (the woman) broken down and humiliated. Personally, I don’t care for the slapping, choking, throat gagging, humiliation, etc. and try to avoid it. Usually my favorite part of a porn scene is the blow job part, but they always ruin it by shoving their penis so far down her throat that her eyes water, she turns red, and she sounds like she’s about to puke. I understand how irritating dating is, but even at my angriest, I never fantasied about inflicting pain on women, but that’s what the porn world think guys like me want to see.
